'Trading & Transport' is how it started
From the beginning Allen (AW) was driven to provide a service. This all started with buying local chaff and grain, transporting it to the Riverland, cutting stumps and returning them back to the Mid North.
Over time AW was able to purchase his own truck, and through a willingness to work hard, the rest is history.
Allen and Doris Vater started AW Vater & Co in 1957. From there they began to grow the business through supplying goods and services throughout the rural community on the foundation of honesty, reliability and integrity.
Grain & Transport is a division of AW Vater & Co who also has a chemical and merchandise division with branches at Saddleworth and Kadina. AW Vater & Co’s current directors are Kim Vater along with his sisters Jill Vater and Tania Nicholls.

Grain trading, transport and storage has been part of the AW Vater & Co business from the very beginning.
Our office, grain handling facility and transport depot are still on the original premises where AW started the business.
Our team has built up strong relationships with growers and end users and pride ourselves on a high level of customer service.
We are strong advocates for local community through support and sponsorship of many local clubs, associations and charities
